The Story behind Faith Of Our Fathers

Fredrick W. Faber’s work and mission were to compose verse and songs. He made melodies that he trusted would help his kindred Christians in their confidence and day to day routines.

He composed right around 150 such songs all through his profession, and many consider “Confidence of Our Dads” to be his show-stopper.

This tune recognizes the meaning of Catholic casualties in Britain who have been butchered since Henry VIII made the Congregation of Britain during the sixteenth hundred years.

The first organization for “Confidence of Our Dads” was composed by Henri Hemy, a notable organist and writer. On November 12, 1818, he was brought into the world in Britain.

The game plan was at first intended to respect Catherine of Alexander, a fourth-century lady put to death for her religion.

LYRICS

Faith of our Fathers! living still

In spite of dungeon, fire, and sword:

Oh, how our hearts beat high with joy

Whene’er we hear that glorious word.

Faith of our Fathers! Holy Faith!

We will be true to thee till death.

Our Fathers, chained in prisons dark,

Were still in heart and conscience free:

How sweet would be their children’s fate,

If they, like them, could die for thee!
